Certificate in Islamic Thoughts

A COLLABORATION WITH INTERNATIONAL ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY MALAYSIA (IIUM),
AL MISBAH ACADEMY IS OFFERING A CERTIFICATE IN ISLAMIC THOUGHTS.

“Say O Muhammad: This is my way; I call people to Allah with sure knowledge. I and whoever that follows me is upon this way. And exalted is Allah; and I am not one of those who associate others with Him." [Surah Yusuf: 108]

This is an ideal that we are striving for. For all Muslims to be on the same path trodden by our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and his disciples. For all who dare to pick up the mantle of da’wah to be upon deep knowledge of Islam. For all that call themselves Muslims to be acknowledged by the prophet himself as his true followers.

The reality, however, is far less rosy than what every Muslim yearned for.

From the earliest days after the departure of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ., the Muslim world was shaken by the emergence of fake prophets and pockets of rebellious groups that aimed to change what Allah had previously ordained through His Messenger. The remaining companions of the Prophet ﷺ tried their best to bring the ummah back together upon the straight path, but it has been predestined by The Almighty that this was no isolated phenomenon.

Centuries passed, the message of Islam spreads far and wide, and yet we sometimes feel confused or misrepresented when we see another Muslim talking about Islam or practicing his ‘version’ of Islam. So how did this happen? Aren’t we following the same Quran and the same messenger? Aren’t we worshipping the same god?

Join us as we discover how the classical sects within Islam emerged and how some of them influenced contemporary Islamic trends today. Learn their history, take a peek into their arguments and open your eyes to the dynamics of our Islamic intellectual heritage as you’ve never seen before.
